Saito Graduate Business School took a bold step forward with a special edition of The Pulse – an e-magazine that is dedicated to highlighting struggles and success of women, in conjunction with the International Women’s Day celebrated annually on March 8.

The magazine features more than 100 women who show great courage (in the words of Saito University College vice-chancellor Professor Dr Vinitha Guptan) “embrace their vulnerability, build on their strength and reach out for support”.

The featured women represent the Queen of one’s life, from all walks of life who have made an impact on others in their own unique way.

Among the notable figures who are featured include our very own Professor of Practice Sutapa Bhattacharya and our Global Classroom speakers such as Elinor Moshe and Tarja Wiklund.

One of the pillars of strength in Saito UC’s sales team, Wong Ngook Ching or affectionately known as Miss Wong, is also featured in this publication, that is helmed by dedicated academicians.

Despite her hectic schedule as Saito UC’s counsellor, a self-confessed family oriented individual finds time to volunteer looking after cancer and AIDS patients, a “terribly heart-wrenching task” but then authenticity, compassion and patience give a different outlook from the patients’ point of view.

A very experienced counsellor, Miss Wong is modest about being featured in this esteemed publication but has this to say to the women out there.

“Build a career path and above all build a strong family foundation,” she said.

A textile designer cum visual artist, Syarifah Nadhirah does not have a formal art education but value her architectural foundation and practice that paved the way towards her passion.

Her closeness with the forest and the Orang Asli taught her about humility. It shows their values remain at having strongly spiritual and physical ties with Mother Nature.

“Come together in solidarity with indigenous women and marginalised communities while still prioritising a space that’s restful and restorative for all,” she said in her story.

Prof Dr Vinitha in her foreword message thanked Associate Professor Dr Ratneswary Rasiah, Saito Business School Dean, Dr Jenny Wong, Saito Design School deputy dean Syed Fahmi Syed Abdul Rahman and English Language lecturer Dhanaraj Serammoorthy, together with the creative team from Buai for putting these stories together.
