Doors to business opportunities are open for the young and enthusiastic winners of 100 Series Live Pitching and Asean Virtual Entrepreneurship Hackathon.
For Bachelor of Business (Management) students Asmawati Mansun, Siti Nur Alya Hafiza Abu Tamil and Vicky Victoria Anak Disa, being top 3 in the 100 Series Live Pitching last year was a motivation towards being entrepreneurs.
“Realising that wearing masks is the new normal and looks like the trend will stay for a long time, we came up with comfortable padded fashionable masks,” said Asmawati on their project.
Late nights and countless discussions have paid off when they were announced the Top 3 winners, under the guidance of their lecturer, Lutfi Halim.
“We would like to go further and turn into a business venture. At the moment, we are still in a discussion,” she said.
Vicky Victoria said it was fun working on the project. She said the team was fun and strived to win.
“We hope to pursue this idea and will try to make it work,” she said.
For first runner-up winners of ASEAN Virtual Entrepreneurship Hackathon 2021 – 2022, comprising Morgan Mak Lee Ann, Dharvindran Sivalingam, Tharunaganesh Rosa-Singam and Pria Tharsni Karunanithi, their project which is called Eco Attic sounds like a good business venture.
“We are currently busy with other commitment but we will definitely discuss this with our awesome lecturer, Ms Aini Rafidah Razali on how to proceed,” she said.
Eco Attic involves collecting old clothes and turn them into designer bags. Samples of their products have brought them to the top in the hackathon and they will not let the business opportunity to slip through.
Morgan Mak Lee Ann said while the project is more about saving the environment, they will try to develop the idea into a business venture.
“We will discuss the matter further with Ms Aini and Saito Business School dean Dr Jenny Wong,” she said.
NOTE: Let’s hope that Saito University College students will continue with the winning streak in future competitions and a big applause to the deserving winners.
