What is APEL.C

  • APEL.C APEL.C/0042-N (03/27) is an alternative route for industry practitioners to obtain formal recognition of the knowledge, skills and experience acquired at the workplace.

You can transfer your working experience via APEL.C for up to 30% credit (exemption)

Additionally, your prior formal learning may receive recognition up to 50% credit transfer to minimize redundancy in learning

Enjoy a maximum of 60% credit transfer using both APEL.C and prior formal learning

You will then be able to complete the MQA accredited programmes in a shorter duration.

1. When can I apply ?

Once you are registered as a student, you may apply at any time during your study. Nevertheless, it is highly recommended that this be done during your first semester.

2. If I gain entry to a programme via APEL.A, am I eligible to apply for APEL .C?

Yes, you are eligible.

3. Is APEL.C applicable for all programmes?

APEL.C is applicable to selected programmes from Certificate [Level3] up to Doctoral Degree. At the postgraduate level. APEL.C is only applicable for coursework and mixed-mode programmes. Please check with our counsellors on these selected programmes.

4. Is APEL.C applicable for all courses?

APEL.C is NOT applicable for final year project-based courses and dissertations.

5. Is there an age limit?

No, there is no age limit.

6. What is the maximum credit transfer through APEL.C

The maximum percentage is 30% of the total graduating credits of a specific programme of study. This percentage is in addition to the credit transfer provision based on the existing formal credit transfer policy

7. Will APEL.C Credit transfer contribute to my CGPA?

No. The credit award (without any grades) will appear in the transcript of the student as ‘CT(APEL)’.

8. Who will guide me upon submission of pre-application forms?

Advisor will guide you throughout your APEL.C application process and assessment procedures.

9. Who will assess my application?

Assessor (subject matter experts/ specialists/ academic staff appointed by the relevant faculty based on courses applied) will develop the assessment instruments and evaluate the evidence submitted.
