Welcome to Saito University College

New Beginnings for Saint John Ambulance Malaysia Saito Unit at Inaugural AGM

A new chapter has begun for the Saint John Ambulance Malaysia (SJAM) Saito Unit! They held their inaugural Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Event Hall, Cheras Campus of Saito University College, marking the formal establishment of this exciting new unit.

Comprised primarily existing Saito University College students, the unit is a dedicated group of volunteers ready to serve. While the turnout at this first AGM wasn’t about large numbers, it was certainly about enthusiastic new beginnings. The meeting saw the crucial presence of new intake students from the “Finish First” programme, a few of whom have already expressed keen interest in joining the unit. Their interest highlights the potential for growth and the unit’s commitment to nurturing future lifesavers from within the college community.

As a brand-new unit, this AGM was less about looking back and more about looking forward. The main agenda was to appoint the very first leadership team, who will be instrumental in guiding the unit’s development and operations. Discussions focused on defining the vital role the Unit will play in providing essential first aid and responding to emergencies, starting within the university campus and with aspirations to extend services to the wider community.

“I’m really excited to have the opportunity to lead this new team,” shared Yam Wen Shan, the newly appointed Unit Chairman. “As law enforcement students, it’s natural that we need to learn how to work as a team. And of course, the reason we are all here – to serve the public, to serve mankind.”

“As student volunteers, we’re eager to learn and apply skills and contribute meaningfully. This AGM is the first step in building a strong, effective unit that truly embodies the vision and mission of SJAM.”

Saint John Ambulance Malaysia, a self-funding, non-profit, and non-religious voluntary organisation, relies on volunteers to carry out its crucial work. The establishment of the Saito Unit brings vital first aid capabilities directly to the student body and offers a fantastic opportunity for students to gain valuable life skills and make a real difference; now and in the future.

The Saito Unit looks forward to a year of training, community engagement, and impactful service as they embark on their journey to become a vital asset to both Saito University College and the broader Cheras/KL community.

Even though we are a uniformed body within the college, we are happy to welcome students who are not in FLAME or are already members of another uniformed body. Your existing experience is a valuable asset! Keep an eye out for how you can get involved with the new Saint John Ambulance Malaysia Saito Unit!
