The spirit of Merdeka came early as our Faculty of Education, Diploma in Early Childhood Education (DECE) students hosted a lively and heartwarming Merdeka celebration together with the children of MBPJ kindergarten.
The event featured three engaging activities led by our DECE students:
Merdeka Craft – children created colourful tanjak headpieces using craft paper.
Merdeka Little Rhythms – a joyful session of patriotic songs and dances.
Jalur Gemilang Touch – children left their handprints on a special Merdeka banner, symbolising unity and pride.
Adding to the excitement, our DECE students staged a captivating theatre performance of the legendary Leftenan Adnan, bringing Malaysia’s history to life for the young audience. Parents joined in the fun by dressing their children in beautiful Merdeka-themed outfits, culminating in a fashion show to crown the “Best-Dressed” participant.
This celebration was made possible with the dedicated guidance of Siti Aiman Sulaiman, lecturer for Art and Craft and Music for Young Children, and the unwavering support of MBPJ kindergarten teachers. Special thanks to Associate Prof. Lim Tou Boon for presenting prizes to the children, and to our fellow Saito University College lecturers and K2 students who came to share the joy of this meaningful day.
Together, we created not just an event, but a beautiful memory of unity, creativity, and national pride for everyone involved.
